OnePlus 6T launch event key highlights

The wait is finally over for OnePlus fans. The company today launched its second flagship of the year 2018 -- OnePlus 6T -- at an event held in New York, US. This is the first time that OnePlus held its global unveiling event in the US. In another first, OnePlus has tied up with the US-based telecom carrier T-Mobile for OnePlus 6T. Analysts see the tie-up as a major breakthrough for the Chinese company in the US, where bulk of smartphone sales are driven by telecom carriers.

OnePlus 6T smartphone has been part of rumour mills since months now. Successor to the company's OnePlus 6, it will go on sale in India starting November 1. In India, OnePlus has tied up with Reliance Jio. The duo have launched 'Jio-OnePlus 6T Unlock The Speed Offer' where buyers Reliance Jio users will get Rs 5,400 cashback on purchase of OnePlus 6T.

Here's are key highlights of the event:

* OnePlus 6T is priced at $549 onwards, and comes in three options based on RAM and storage capacity: 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB.

* OnePlus 6T will also be compatible with Verizon's network and will be the company's first phone to be sold directly by a US carrier.

* OnePlus 6T boasts of 23% better battery life vs OnePlus 6, claims OnePlus exec.

* OnePlus 6T will run on same Qualcomm processor as OnePlus 6, Snapdragon 845. OnePlus takes a dig at Google. Compares OnePlus 6 with Google Pixel 2 XL. Seems the company forgot that there is a generation different in the processor of the two smartphones. While OnePlus 6 runs on Snapdragon 845, Google Pixel 2 XL runs on previous-generation Snapdragon 835.

* OnePlus 6T will be the first smartphone in the US with in-screen finger print sensor, claims OnePlus.
